About YMCA Giving Gala 2023: 

This year, the YMCA Giving Gala is held in support of youth with special needs. It advocates for inclusivity by showcasing our clients’ potential and serves as a platform for corporations and guests to interact personally with the youth. 

Proceeds go to the YMCA Community Services Fund, which supports vocational training and social development programmes for youth with special needs and youth-at-risk.

Our Cause:

The YMCA seeks to strengthen youth with special needs and youth-at-risk through holistic programmes to strengthen their skill sets, employability and character development. These programmes challenge them to reach new heights and builds their confidence, independence and self-esteem levels, to allow them to lead more fulfilled lives. 

In 2022, YMCA launched the YMCA CLUB LITE Membership Club, a social activity club for persons with moderate to low special needs. The Club aims to further develop their potential while offering them a safe and conducive environment to (L)EARN new skills, be (I)NSPIRED by fresh and exciting experiences, discover passions they will (T)HRIVE in, and feel (E)MPOWERED by a supportive community. The Club conducts various activities including free Zumba classes, movie screening sessions and upskilling workshops. There are currently more than 50 members in the Club.

The Vocational and Soft Skills Programme equips out-of-school youth and youth-at-risk with vocational skills including hairdressing and culinary skills among others, as well as soft skills such as communication, conflict management and job readiness skills. The youth also receive emotional and social support from social workers during the programme, to facilitate their return to further studies or entry into the workforce.

*YMCA of Singapore is an approved Institution of a Public Character (IPC). All cash donations of $50 and above are eligible for 250% tax deduction.
