FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS – COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAMMES
- In collaboration with YMCA Education, we welcomed 17 primary school students from Rise Center, China as volunteers for the Y Visit @ SCH programme on 6 February 2018. The children prepared performances for the 24 elderly beneficiaries, including Chinese, Korean and Latin dancing. The group also played dodgeball, which was a healthy and fun exercise for the elderly.
- On 24 February 2018, 18 volunteers from National Junior College accompanied 16 children to River Hongbao 2018, a fun-filled Chinese New Year carnival held at The Float @ Marina Bay, as part of Y Visit @ Kidzcare. The group played classic games including bumper cars, shooting and carnival rides.
- Y Makan Fellowship celebrated Chinese New Year with 56 seniors from Silver Ace @ Henderson, SARAH Senior Activity Centre and Care Corner Senior Activity Centre on 10 February 2018. Along with 52 volunteers, the elderly participated in a variety of games, a sumptuous lunch and lo hei. There was also a dance performance and sing-along of Chinese New Year songs by students from National Junior College. To end the session, volunteers distributed mandarin oranges with handwritten greetings.
