The YMCA Financial Assistance and Capability for Employment Scheme (FACES) extends short-term emergency financial aid to needy families and provides meaningful work training opportunities for individuals with special needs. YMCA works closely with various Family Service Centres which would help to identify and refer families in need of urgent financial assistance. These families include those who require immediate financial assistance or who do not qualify for existing financial assistance schemes.

On 4 August 2020, we launched the Uplift Fund, an emergency relief fund established under YMCA FACES. The Uplift Fund is supported through the philanthropy of Park Hotel Group.

YMCA FACES comprises:

Short Term Financial Assistance
Provides families-in-need with supplementary financial aid in the form of food and transportation vouchers for one to three months. Beneficiaries include single-parent families and families going through difficult transition periods.

Bridging Fund
Provides maximum disbursement of $100 per walk-in client for emergency situations through our partners (see below). 

Employment Training 
Provides trainee positions at Y Café to students with special needs with the purpose of instilling real life training skills and confidence in interacting with the public. Find out more at YMCA Special Needs Hospitality Training Programme

Eligibility Criteria (for Short Term Financial Assistance or Bridging Fund)

i. The applicant is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident, or one member of the immediate family is a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident. 
ii. Per capita income under $750, or client faces an emergency situation resulting in temporary financial crisis (e.g accident, illness of self or family member, etc) 
iii. Limited savings
iv. Limited or no family support
v. Assistance will enhance client’s employability or improve family situation.

If you need help or know of families who need short-term emergency assistance and fall within our eligibility criteria, please contact a partner organisation in your area for referral to YMCA Financial Assistance Scheme. Please note that YMCA does not accept direct applications or walk-in clients.

How you can help

Help expand our reach to more families in crisis by making a donation to YMCA FACES. Every cent you donate to YMCA FACES will be used to support needy families, as the programme’s administrative overheads are covered by YMCA’s general funds. 

Cheque Donations 

Send a crossed cheque payable to “YMCA of Singapore”. Please include your contact details and NRIC for us to issue you a tax-exempt receipt. Please also include a note to specify that your donation is to be used solely for YMCA FACES and you will receive an acknowledgment receipt.
