  • On 13 January 2018, YMCA kicked off the Y Photo Club @ APSN CFA sessions for the year with a trip to Singapore Zoo, as part of the Wildlife Snapshots Programme. Our new batch of beneficiaries buckled down to learn some photographic theory and later explored the zoo, under the guidance of enthusiasts from SAFRA Photographic Club.

  • On 20 January 2018, 20 volunteers from SGIS accompanied 20 beneficiaries from Handicapped Welfare Association to a non-stitched leathercraft workshop as part of the Y Outing @ HWA programme. The participants were taught to create coin pouches and key fobs from scratch. Seeing how the session benefitted their clients, HWA plans to continue with the leathercraft sessions in order to equip them with skills which they can use to earn a living.
  • Seven volunteers from Curtin University attended Y Visit @ COH on 26 January 2018. The session marked our first time working with beneficiaries from the lowest functioning group at COH, an underserved population. The group engaged in ang pao stamping using vegetables – a painting activity modified to suit their weaker grip. Their artworks were later used to decorate the centre.
