Process Improvement, Executive/ Senior Executive (1 Year Renewable Contract)

Reporting directly to the Division Head (Corporate Services), you will support the organisation in the areas of capability building, quality, and processes to achieve operational excellence as well as to build a culture of high performance aligned with the organisation’s current and future needs. You will be directly responsible for driving the organisation towards being change-ready. You will be part of the team that drives, communicates and coordinates transformation plans and initiatives across the organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

I. STAFF ENGAGEMENT AND CULTURE
  • Work with key stakeholders to support processes and plans to ensure alignment of Vision, Mission and Core Values.
  • Organise and/or coordinate staff engagement initiatives to foster a sense of identity, culture and pride in the organisation among staff. This includes digital communications, staff townhalls, retreats, work-plans, quality festival, employee engagement surveys and GS&CEO dialogue sessions.
  • Implement staff related change management plans to help staff transit successfully during change projects, including stakeholder analysis, change readiness assessment and sponsor engagement.
  • Facilitate and guide staff as change agents to build and sustain the quality centric culture.
  • Collate and harness staff ideas/feedback to identify areas for improvement and translate them into intervention plans.
  • Oversee projects and activities to cultivate a high performing, team-oriented, people-centric, continuous learning, service quality and innovative culture.
II. BUSINESS EXCELLENCE SUPPORT
  • Support the development, implementation and improvement of the processes, structures and capabilities.
  • Work with Management and teams to conduct internal organisation’s diagnosis to identify gaps and propose intervention plans.
  • Collect and analyse data to provide fact-based recommendations and measure progress on the impact of the intervention plans to ensure effectiveness. Provide periodic progress updates to Management and external stakeholders where necessary.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops for Management and teams in ensuring process alignment and providing solutions for areas of improvements.
  • Review, improve and revitalise internal work processes and practices.
  • Coordinate with relevant government agencies and consultants to manage the certification/accreditation process.
III. PROCESS IMPROVEMENT SUPPORT
  • Identify knowledge gaps and deliver relevant intervention to address organisational knowledge sharing and dissemination requirements.
  • Conduct relevant benchmarking exercises and comparison studies with industry best practices to improve performance.
  • Influence and work with the departments to identify and execute continuous improvement projects to reduce cycle time, improve quality and reduce cost.
  • Deliver regular internal broadcast to share on good corporate practices via e-newsletters or equivalence to staff.
  • Promote successful improvements through the creation and/or delivery of presentations, case studies, articles, conference posters etc.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in appropriate field of study.
  • Experience in process documentation and being innovative in solutioning will be helpful.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in managing change and/or improvement projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage with end users and stakeholders effectively.

 

Supervisor, Kindergarten Care Centre (KCC)

You will be responsible for the smooth operations of the Centre, and in meeting the student enrolment targets and profit goals. You will ensure that a safe and conducive environment is provided for the preschool children.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement the weekly schedule and programme(s) for preschool children in accordance with the Kindergarten Care guide
  • Observe lessons being conducted in the classrooms and provide necessary feedback to Programme Staff on pedagogy and lesson delivery
  • Plan holiday field trips and ad-hoc activities
  • Plan and manage the staff scheduling, to ensure the staff to child ratio is maintained at all times, including transition periods
  • Responsible for the proper use and maintenance of all furniture, furnishings, fittings, equipment and play resources
  • Work with external stakeholders on menu plans, teaching resources, survey evaluation results and make contingency plans.
  • Responsible for financial reporting, receipts and expenses
  • Responsible for staff management and child-parent matters
  • Ensure that the Centre premises are clean, hygienic and well-maintained at all times
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each individual child
  • Maintain an appropriate atmosphere of safety, learning, and fun, in line with YMCA’s philosophy
  • Perform classroom-teaching duties during the absence of Programme staff

Requirements:

  • Minimum a Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a pre-school setting
  • Dedicated with positive working attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • PC literate

 

Supervisor, Student Care Centre (SCC) 

You will be responsible for leading a team of Student Care Centre staff in the operations and management of daily after-school activities for primary school children based on YMCA’s student care programmes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage overall planning, Centre operations and staffing
  • Attend to Student-Parent matters with regards to activities, policies, enrolment, student’s academic and behavioural attitudes and achievements
  • Supervise activities such as field visits and group discussions to stimulate students’ interests and broaden the understanding of their physical and social environment
  • Involved in staff selection, development, delegation of duties and performance
  • Prepare periodic reports on student enrolment, expenses, manpower, training, etc

Requirements:

  • Minimum diploma in a relevant discipline
  • At least 3 years’ experience in similar capacity, preferably in a student care/tutoring environment
  • Passionate and able to work with young children between 7-12 years old
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • PC literate
English Teacher, Child Development Centre (CDC)

You are responsible for planning and providing opportunities for children to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and dispositions through an integrated and holistic curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the preparation the classroom environment including pre-activity set-up. Ensure the classroom materials are of superior quality and adequate in supply.
  • To manage children between 18 months to 7 years old and provide high levels of interaction to promote critical thinking and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Supervise activities such as field visits and group discussions to stimulate children’s interest and broaden the understanding of their physical and social environment.
  • Prepare Lesson Plans in line with the curriculum developed according to MOE Curriculum Framework for Kindergartens to provide multiple experiences and social interactions.
  • Able to demonstrate and use audio-visual teaching aids to present subject matter to the class when necessary.
  • Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to create new learning opportunities for children.
  • Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to develop children’s developmental profile.
  • Evaluate lessons conducted to determine what children know and are able to do which will help in planning appropriate lessons to enhance children’s development and learning.
  • Provide support, warmth and emotional support for the children when needed.
  • Instruct children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care. Exhibit a consistent sense of calm, consistency, grace and courtesy toward the children.
  • Ensure the safety and well being of each individual child. Observe children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and to evaluate progress.
  • Maintain an appropriate atmosphere of safety, learning, and fun, in line with YMCA’s philosophy.
  • Any other duties or projects to be assigned by the immediate superior.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (Teaching)
  • Applications with higher qualifications or more experience may be offered the (Senior Teacher position)
  • At least 2 Year(s) of working experience in the related field is required

 

Chinese Teacher, Child Development Centre (CDC)

You are responsible for planning and providing opportunities for children to acquire necessary knowledge, skills and dispositions through an integrated and holistic curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the classroom environment including pre-activity set-ups. Ensure classroom materials are of good quality and are adequate in supply
  • Manage children between 18 months to 7 years old and provide high levels of interaction to promote critical thinking and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Supervise activities such as field visits and group discussions to stimulate interest and broaden understandings of their physical and social environments
  • Prepare lesson plans in line with the curriculum developed according to the MOE Curriculum Framework for Kindergartens to provide multiple experiences and social interactions

  • Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to create new learning opportunities for children

  • At least 4 years of working experience in related fields
  • The workplace location is in Bukit Panjang

 

Assistant Teacher, Child Development Centre (CDC)

Supervise the activities of the children and help children to regulate and adapt their behaviour, emotions and thinking to solve problems and to get along with others. Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment for the children.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate/assist to conduct age appropriate programme activities for children’s learning experiences.
  •  Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to develop  children’s developmental profile.
  • Prepare basic Lesson Plans in line with the curriculum developed according to MOE Curriculum Framework for Kindergartens to provide multiple experiences and social interactions
  • Participate in meetings (eg: staff development/staff meetings, etc), for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving one’s skills and knowledge.
  • Report observations and incidents (accidents/fights/inappropriate social behaviour, safety conditions) for the purpose of ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for young children.
  • Responsible for maintaining order in the classroom and playground.
  • Foster social behaviour through games and group projects to assist children in forming satisfying relationships with other children and adults.
  • Encourage students in singing, dancing, rhythmic activities and in the use of art materials to promote self-expressions and in appreciation of aesthetic experiences.
  • Implement creative ideas, activities, and stimulating lessons to involve the children in the classroom.
  • Provide support, warmth, security and stability for the children.
  • Instruct children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care. Exhibit a sense of calm, consistency, grace and courtesy toward the children in the classroom.

Requirements:

  • Certificate in Preschool Teaching/Fundamentals trained
  • At least 1 year’s experience
  • Qualities
    • Previous experience working with young children.
    • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with flexibility to work with various age groups. 
    • Patient and love teaching children.
    • Friendly and cheerful disposition.
    • Preferably bilingual (very conversant in English and/or Mandarin)

Programme Staff, Kindergarten Care Centre (KCC) 

Your role includes ensuring safety and health standards, handling emergencies, setting up specially designed environments and implementing the Kindergarten Care Centre’s programmes based on the Kindergarten Care Guide provided by the Authorities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the setting up of specially designed environments including pre-activity set ups. Ensure the programme materials are in good quality and adequate in supply
  • To manage kindergarten children and provide high levels of interaction to promote critical thinking and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Implement the Kindergarten Care Centre’s programmes based on the Kindergarten Care Guide provided
  • Supervise activities such as field trips and sharing sessions to stimulate children’s interest and broaden the understanding of their physical and social environment
  • Demonstrate and use audio-visual teaching aids to present subject matter to classes
  • Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to create new learning opportunities for them
  • Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to develop children’s developmental profile
  • Provide support, warmth and emotional support for the children when needed
  • Instruct children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care. Exhibit a sense of calm, consistency, grace and courtesy toward the children
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each individual child. Observe children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and to evaluate progress
  • Able to handle emergencies and solve problems

Requirements:

Mentor, Student Care Centre (SCC) 

You will be responsible for implementing and supervising all aspects of daily teaching and development activities for children enrolled in the Student Care Programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare lesson contents and teaching environments
  • Supervise activities to achieve developmental objectives
  • Daily administration – attendance, grade records, health and safety, etc
  • Maintain order in classrooms and on the playground
  • Implement creative ideas, activities, and stimulating lessons and encourage students’ participation in classroom activities
  • Address and counsel student behaviour as needed
  • Maintain an appropriate atmosphere of safety, learning, and fun, in line with YMCA’s philosophy

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum O Level English Grade C6 or equivalent
  • Student care / tutoring experience is advantageous
  • Patient and passionate about teaching children
  • Friendly and cheerful with good interpersonal skills and organisation skills
  • Candidates with higher education level and working experience will be considered for Senior Mentor, position
Cook-cum-Cleaner

You will be responsible for the daily cleaning and the preparation of the food and beverages at the Centre.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Daily Cleaning:

  • Ensure that excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained on the kitchen, kitchen equipment, dining room area, food storage areas and toilets
  • Daily cleaning of dishes and utensils, shower rooms, toilets and floor

Food Preparation:

  • Collect the food and beverages for meals and tea breaks from licensed caterer
  • Assist with the distribution of food to the children
  • Store food appropriately

Regular Maintenance:

  • Disinfect toys
  • Dust and clean windows and fans (without climbing)
  • Wipe refrigerator and keep the inside neat and clean

Requirements:

  • WSQ Food Hygiene certification is advantageous
  • Able to communicate in simple English
