Supervisor, Student Care Centre (SCC)

Locations:

Bishan, Bukit Batok, Bukit Merah, Bukit Panjang, Bedok, Choa Chu Kang, Dhoby Ghaut, Jurong West, Marine Parade, Punggol, Redhill, Serangoon, Sembawang, Seng Kang, Siglap, Simei, Tampines. Centres are all within walking distance from the MRT

Responsibilities:

You will be leading a team of passionate and dedicated teachers to impact the lives of children from 7 to 14 years old (SCC). You will direct the activities of students and/or children in the centre.You will be responsible for the smooth operation of the Centre and meeting of the student enrolment targets and profit goals. You will be responsible in teaching and developing children academically, socially, musically, artistically as well as teaching them on personal hygiene and motor skills to heighten students’ physical, mental and social development.

Requirements:

  • Certificate, Diploma and/or Degree in Pre School Teaching, Early Childhood Education or related discipline
  • At least 5 years experience
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written), interpersonal skills with flexibility to work with various age groups
  • Patient and has a passion and love for teaching children
  • Friendly and cheerful disposition
  • First Aid trained
  • An innovative team player who is dynamic, self-motivated, pro-active, mature and results oriented with the determination to succeed
  • Preferably bilingual (Very conversant in English or Chinese)
  • PC literate
Mentor, Student Care Centre (SCC) – Part-time & Full-time positions available

Locations:

  • Prepare lesson contents and teaching environment
  • Supervise activities to achieve developmental objectives
  • Daily administration – attendance, grade records, health and safety, etc
  • Maintain order in classroom and on playground
  • Implement creative ideas, activities, and stimulating lessons and encourage students’ participation in classroom activities.
  • Address and counsel student behaviour as needed
  • Maintain an appropriate atmosphere of safety, learning, and fun, in line with YMCA’s philosophy

Requirements:

  • Minimally ‘A’ Levels,’O’ Levels, Higher Nitec, or Diploma
  • Student care / tutoring experience is advantageous
  • Patient and passionate about teaching children
  • Friendly and cheerful with excellent interpersonal skills and good organisation skills
  • Candidates with higher education level and working experience will be considered for Senior Teacher, position
Teacher/Senior Teacher, Child Development Centre (CDC) – Bukit Batok, Woodlands & Bukit Panjang

Responsibilities:

You must be a good team player and dedicated to cultivating young minds. You will be responsible in teaching and developing children academically, socially, musically, artistically as well as teaching them on personal hygiene and motor skills to heighten students’ physical, mental and social development.You will be responsible for pre-activity classroom set up including preparation of the classroom such as ensuring the classroom materials are of quality and of adequate supply. You will be required to prepare course objectives and lesson plans for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of our Singapore government. You will assign daily lessons and schoolwork, prepare and administer tests and record results.

Requirements:

  • Teacher/Senior Teacher: At least Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (Teaching)
  • Passion to work with children aged below 6 years old
Programme Staff, Kindergarten Care (KCare) – Seng Kang & Punggol area, Part-time & full-time positions available

Duties and Responsibilities:

Your role includes ensuring safety and health standards, handling emergencies, setting up specially designed environment and implementing the KCare Centre’s programme based on the KCare Guide that will be provided by the Authority.

  • Responsible for the setting up of specially designed environment including pre-activity set up. Ensure the programme materials are in superior quality and adequate supply
  • To manage children between 5 to 6 years old and provide high levels of interaction to promote critical thinking and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Implement the KCare Centre’s programme based on the KCare Guide provided
  • Supervise activities such as field trips and sharing sessions to stimulate children’s interest and broaden the understanding of their physical and social environment
  • Demonstrate and use audio-visual teaching aids to present subject matter to class
  • Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to create new   learning opportunities for children.
  • Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to develop children’s developmental profile.
  • Provide support, warmth and emotional support for the children when needed
  • Instruct children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care. Exhibit a sense of calm, consistency, grace and courtesy toward the children
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each individual child. Observe children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and to evaluate progress
  • Able to handle emergencies and solve problems
  • Maintain an appropriate atmosphere of safety, learning, and fun, in line with YMCA’s philosophy
  • Keep attendance reports
  • Responsible for maintaining order in classroom and on playground
  • Any other duties or projects to be assigned by the immediate superior

Job Requirements:

  • SCC (Early Years-EY)-trained1 or ACECCE/CECCE and above
  • Conversant in the English language
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Support Staff, Kindergarten Care (KCare) – Seng Kang & Punggol area

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Programme Staff in the daily supervision of children’s safety and carrying out of the KCare Centre’s programme; especially for outdoor play and free play, as well as during the two transition periods (i.e. from 7am to 8am and 5pm to 7pm)
  • Provide support, warmth and emotional support for the children when needed
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of each individual child. Observe children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and to evaluate progress
  • Maintain an appropriate atmosphere of safety, learning, and fun, in line with YMCA’s philosophy.
  • Help Programme Staff during field trips and ad-hoc activities
  • Any other duties or projects to be assigned by the immediate superior
