2009 YMCA Annual General Meeting

YMCA of Singapore held its Annual General Meeting on 11 May 2010 with a total of
66 Full members attended the event. Prior to the start of the AGM, there was a presentation of certificates of completion to seven YMCA FACES’s Y Employment Scheme graduates.

Mr Stephen Loh, President of the YMCA, shared with the audience on the achievements of the Association in 2009 as well as plans for 2010. The full transcript of Mr Loh’s speech can be read here.

We bid farewell to Mr David Lua (23 years service) who offered himself up for early retirement from the Board as well as four other Board members who offered not to stand for re-election in the interest of Board renewal. They are Mr David Wong (21 years service), Dr Ivor Thevathasan (24 years service), Mr Tay Puan Siong (24 years service) and Mr Lee Liat Cheng (32 years service). In appreciation of their many years of faithful service to the Association, each of them was presented with the “Dendrobium YMCA”, a robust, free flowering orchid hybrid that reflects the work sustained over the years by the YMCA and its volunteers in touching lives and lifting spirits in the community. The Association is indebted to them for their sterling service and may the Lord continue to use them mightily in His service.

Four new Board members were elected to take their place in leading the Association. They are Mr Kenneth Tan, Mr Tan Eng Beng, Mr Samuel Chan and Mr Teo Zi-Ming. Each of them will serve a 4-year term on the YMCA Board commencing 11 May 2010. The CVs of our four new Board members can be viewed here. The Board also co-opted five Directors, namely Dr Ben Leong, Mrs Magdalene Sik, Mr Bryan Tan, Ms Packiam Williams and Mr Leslie Wong. We warmly welcome all our new leaders and pray that the Lord will grant them wisdom and favour as they lead the YMCA in touching lives and lifting spirits in the community.
