The Star (RAGE) – Youth and global issues

YMCA volunteer leader Oliver Loke was featured in a youth online portal of a major English daily in Malaysia. Oliver chairs the organising committee for the International Association for Volunteer Efforts (IAVE) Youth Volunteer Conference which will be held from 21-23 January 2011 in Singapore.
YMCA of Singapore is one of the co-organisers for the event.

Volunteer with YMCA Flag Day on 26 March 2011 |
Be a volunteer and sell flags during the upcoming YMCA Flag Day on 26 March 2011.
All funds raised will go towards funding 17 structured and sustained YMCA Community Service Programmes that reach out to over 2,000 intellectually, mentally and physically challenged, out-of-school youth and youth-at-risk, abused and underprivileged children, the elderly and the poor in 34 partnering voluntary welfare organisations and self-help groups.

100 Christmas wishes fulfilled! |
YMCA of Singapore organised a Christmas Lunch for 100 elderly beneficiaries at the YMCA Auditorium on 22 December 2010 as part of its “YMCA Fulfilling a Christmas Wish” project. The project was held over four weeks from 22 November to
17 December. Each of the 100 senior beneficiaries was asked to share with the YMCA their Christmas wish for the year. [Read more]

IAVE conference |
The 21st International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) World Volunteer Conference will take place in Singapore on January 24 - 27, 2011. Hosted by Singapore’s National Volunteer & Philanthropy Center (NVPC), the event will run in conjunction with the tenth anniversary of the UN International Year of Volunteers (IYV +10) and IAVE’s 40th anniversary. In the tradition of recent IAVE conferences, an affiliated Youth Volunteer Conference will be held on January 21 - 23.
YMCA of Singapore is one of the partnering organisations for this volunteer conference. [Read more]
