100 Christmas wishes fulfilled!

 

YMCA of Singapore organised a Christmas Lunch for 100 elderly beneficiaries at the YMCA Auditorium on 22 December 2010 as part of its “YMCA Fulfilling a Christmas Wish” project.
The project was held over four weeks from 22 November to 17 December.  Each of the 100 senior beneficiaries was asked to share with the YMCA their Christmas wish for the year.

Their wish list was uploaded on the YMCA website and shared among YMCA members, volunteers, Board members and staff.  All wishes were granted and the Seniors were presented with their wish items at the Lunch.

The 100 seniors aged between 70 and 96 live in one-room rented flats in the vicinity of the Macpherson Moral Senior Activity Centre, PEACE-Connect Neighbourhood Link and
Toa Payoh Care Corner Seniors Activity Centre.  52 Befrienders comprising YMCA members, volunteers and staff played host.  They Seniors were also treated to a festive lunch, Christmas carols performed by YMCA caroling team, a ukulele performance and a message on the true significance of Christmas.

The “YMCA Fulfilling a Christmas Wish” project was assisted by the management and staff of Macpherson Moral Senior Activity Centre, Peace-Connect Neighbourhood Link and Toa Payoh Care Corner Seniors Activity Centre, who collated the wishes and coordinated the Seniors’ attendance.
