In January 2011, the YMCA of Singapore and NUS Chinese Calligraphy Society will co-organise the 3rd YMCA-NUS National Youth Chinese Calligraphy Competition 2011. This event aims to promote the appreciation of traditional Chinese arts among the youth in Singapore.

This year, some 200 students from 30 Primary and Secondary Schools and Junior Colleges in Singapore will be participating in the competition.

For the first time, an Intergenerational participant demonstration will be introduced with the aim of promoting better intergenerational relations in keeping with the spirit of this year’s theme, Harmony.

We are privileged to have Mr Lee Khoon Choy, former Senior Minister of State, as our Guest-of Honour. Mr Lee will demonstrate the finer points of calligraphy and give a talk on the history of Chinese calligraphy.
