YMCA Received NVPC’s Philanthropy Management Award!
It was a proud day for the members, volunteers & staff of the YMCA of Singapore when it was presented with the prestigious Non-Profit Organization award for Philanthropy Management at the National Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards 2007 held at the Marina Mandarin on 15 November 2007. General Secretary, Mr. Albert Ching received the award from President S R Nathan during the awards presentation ceremony.
”Our main thrust is to promote the spirit of volunteerism, instilling in youth social responsibility and serving the disadvantaged people locally and overseas. We embark on this journey without even the slightest hint of intention as to what awards we will be accorded. We are indeed encouraged to be recognized as a partner in serving the community and nation building,” said Mr Albert Ching.
The National Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards are pinnacle awards that honour those who have set excellence benchmarks in encouraging the spirit of giving in Singapore. The Philanthropy Management award recognises YMCA’s best practices in donor management and fundraising among non-profit organisations.

Dr Vivian said: “YMCA is not just an ordinary VWO. It has provided sterling service to the community in Singapore for the past 105 years. This ceremony is therefore a tribute to the many dedicated leaders and volunteers of YMCA for your many contributions.”
Representatives from corporations that participated in the YMCA-Central Singapore Proms @ the Park on 20 October were also invited to witness the ceremony. Verse of the month : “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
The Orchard Road lightings have brought much delight to both shoppers and tourists. It means that Christmas is coming again. However, Christmas is more than dazzling and beautiful decorations. It is about the birth of Jesus Christ. Unlike any other baby, the one born that night in Bethlehem was unique in all of history. He was not created by a human father and mother. He is the Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace. This is why Christmas is called the incarnation, a word which means “in the flesh.” In the birth of Jesus, the eternal, all-powerful and all-knowing Creator came to earth in the flesh. In order to save the world, Jesus came and shared his life with us. Forgiveness of sin and assurance of heaven are now offered to all who believe in him. Let us by all means enjoy, but do not forget the everlasting grace and love of God. Rejoice, for the Lord has come!

Prayer of the month
Father in heaven, we thank you that you have given your son Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. We thank you for Christmas because it is a time of reflection and thanksgiving for the many blessings that bestow upon our lives. We are so thankful that you have given your all to us. You were rich but became poor so that we might become rich in you. Teach us to take time to meditate upon your loving kindness and faithfulness. Help us also to seize this opportunity to share the good news with others that Jesus has come to the world to save us! In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
