UNIYte 2018, Uni-Y’s Annual General Meeting saw a total of 97 guests comprising Uni-Y SUTD, NUS, NTU, SMU members, executive committee members, parents, school staff and YMCA staff in attendance. YMCA of Singapore’s Honorary Secretary Mr Bryan Tan graced the event as Guest-of-Honour.

The Annual General Meeting helped set the tone for the year ahead, acting as a platform to formalise new Council appointments for Uni Y & SUTD ExCO members. The new Uni-Y theme ‘Community Serving Communities’ was set for 2018.

Outgoing Council Chairperson Ms Annabelle Ong gave the opening address, sharing about her journey of leading the clubs in the direction of 2017’s theme ‘Let Your Light Shine’. One of the initiatives was to foster a stronger Tri-Uni Y identity amongst the universities. For the first time, all three universities planned a publicity campaign called #shareyoursmile together. Whilst it is not without its challenges, she expressed her appreciation to the Council for supporting and providing feedback. She also formally welcomed SUTD to the Council as part of the Uni-Y family.

As part of the ceremonial appointment, the outgoing 2017 Presidents from all four chapters handed over the reins of each club to the incoming Presidents and Vice Presidents by passing on an encased plaque which represented the continuation of Uni-Y’s work to develop and empower youth to be servant leaders who impact local and international communities. In addition, the incoming Presidents, Vice Presidents & ExCo Members also received their letters of appointment from Mr Bryan Tan.
