Care To Dance

Care to Dance 2008 invites you to dance up a storm and touch lives. Organised by YMCA of Singapore, Care to Dance is an initiative organised by youth for the youth, to benefit the less priviledged; including children from low-income families and adults and youth with intellectual disabilities. This project is in celeration of SHINE, a youth festival supported by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and National Youth Council. In Care to Dance, volunteers will learn fun and vibrant dance moves in an energetic and engaging dance workshop. You will then share your new found dance skills as learning faciliators to child beneficiaries.

Past Events

Care to Dance 2006
2006 saw the second annual installment of Care to Dance – a YMCA community programme held in conjunction with SHINE, a youth festival supported by The Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and the National Youth Council (NYC). In Care to Dance, youth aged 15 to 35 reached out to the less fortunate through fun and exciting dance forms in a novel way of serving with a heart. The event was held over four full days on 19 June and 3, 17 and 29 July.

The programme reached out to 10 beneficiary organisations: three student care centres and seven welfare organisations for intellectually challenged. Care to Dance engaged 590 youth volunteers from 14 educational institutes including upper secondary, junior colleges, centralised institutes and tertiary institutes. The event was spear-headed by volunteers from the Lindy Hop Ensemble.
